On the evening of May 9th, Jones County School’s senior staff, Jones Senior High’s staff, and the Jones County Sheriff’s Department received a tip of a potential threat of a weapon being brought on the campus of Jones Senior High School on May 10th. The school system and sheriffs office worked together to provide officers and staff to conduct a search of the campus and students’ belongings prior to students entering the building. Every student was searched and no threat was found.
At approximately 12:20pm Jones Senior High School received a report from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department of a potential threat on campus. The school was placed in lockdown and authorities performed a safety security sweep. The threat was unfounded and campus resumed normal activities at Approximately 1:15 pm.
NCDPI honored JCPS with the Purple Star District Award today in Raleigh for their support of military families.
