Just a Reminder: MES will have Open House/Back to School on THURSDAY (August 13) from 10:00-12:00 and a second time from 4:00-6:00. Because we must follow guidelines established by the Governor, we ask that you adhere to the following: 1. Maintain social distancing. 2. Face masks/coverings are required. 3. Due to the maximum number of guests allowed for gatherings, we ask that ONE parent/guardian (no children allowed at this time) come to pick up materials. 4. Because of the potential for summer thunderstorms we have set up stations in the MES gym, to aid in parent pick up of materials. You will enter through the double doors (at the car rider drop of location) and exit out of the single door on the same side of the gym that you entered. 5. Because of risk of transmission, we ask that you limit your time in the building. You will pick up materials and pay fees (if you choose) and then exit the building. MES will be closed today (August 5) due to lack of power/electricity. Based on information from Duke Power we should reopen at 8:00am Thursday (August 6). We will keep you posted.

The Neuse Regional Libraries are proud to offer Literacy Without Barriers, made possible by funding from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).   Students can receive tutoring in math, reading, and writing as well as homework help after school at our Libraries.

MES Parents: Beginning Thursday, August 6th, your child's assigned Cohort/Grouping will be available. We will be calling you with this information.

On Monday, July 27th, the Jones County Board of Education unanimously approved PLAN B for reopening schools on August 17th. Under Plan B, students will return to school on a rotational basis with many safety precautions in place. These precautions include: *Daily health screenings prior to boarding the bus and entering the school *Social distancing (all classrooms will be set up with desks 6 feet apart & students and staff will practice social distancing in the classroom & throughout the school campus) *Frequent hand washing *Masks will be provided and required for all students & staff with times available for masks to be removed *Wednesdays will be dedicated to deep cleaning, so all students will participate in remote learning on this day. Cleaning will also take place daily and over the weekends. Many have inquired how this rotation will be communicated. Once the day(s) for your child/children is designated, your child's/children’s school will share the information with you. The school will send these designations the week of August 3rd. Re-Entry Plan for JCPS: The Board of Education will meet on Monday (July 27) to review all information, logistics, and parent/staff surveys and then vote on the proposed Re-Entry Plan. Upon completion of this meeting, all detailed information will be shared with stakeholders.
