Strategic Plan Development
2022-2027
Currently in development-to be concluded by June 2022
Process

Our strategic plan sessions began with visits to each of our school communities. We visited our school communities on the following dates:
Trenton Elementary. January 24, 2022
Pollocksville Elementary. January 25, 2022
Maysville Elementary. February 1, 2022
Comfort Elementary. February 2, 2022
Jones Senior High School. February 10, 2022
At these visits, we gathered feedback from parents, teachers, community members, and staff about what expectations and priorities they deemed crucial for Jones County Public Schools over the next five years. We gathered, collected, and reviewed this feedback from our school communities. We also prioritized and noted common themes from these visits.
The input was valuable, informative and our staff enjoyed the engagement and information from our school communities. Attendees to these sessions were asked to participate by our school principals, who invited members of their school communities to help us develop the strategic effort.
Feedback

We gathered feedback from each school community at each session. Feedback was gathered via several activities during the session which encouraged our stakeholders to envison our school system five years from now and tell us what they would like to see. We talked about challenges, successes, things we thought were strengths and also where we wanted to get better. This input came from students, parents, community members, teachers and staff.
Priority
Beginning February 18, 2022, our central office staff, with the help of Dr. Lesley Eason and Leader in Me, began to analyze the feedback and search for themes, concerns, and priorities that were identified in the community feedback sessions.
We also realized in doing these sessions that we need to create community opportunities for face-to-face feedback and conversation. Our central office staff and Dr. Thigpen agreed that this interaction was positive, helpful, and needed for the future. So, each year, we intend to visit each school in the spring to get feedback and update each school community about the progress of the strategic efforts of the school system.
Central office directors and principals met with Dr. Eason on April 7, 2022 to begin the formating and prioritizing of the plan.

Completion!
A draft of the strategic plan was presented to BOE in our May BOE Meeting. We noted that testing data will be populated when scores return from testing in July and August. The final draft with yearly targets and scoreboards will be presented at the August BOE Meeting after the administrative staff reviews performance results in the administrative sessions at the end of June. We are greatly appreciative of our staff, our parents, our community members, and our students for their contribution to our strategic planning effort.
