Jones County Schools Dress Code Policy:

*Any items that could be interpreted as gang related is NOT ALLOWED.  This includes but is not limited to:  beads, bandannas, do-rags, undershirts with colors not listed as acceptable (see below), safety pins, etc.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. . .

Pants, Skirts, Shorts, Jumpers, Dresses, Skorts

Colors: Khaki, Navy Blue, Black

Must be free of labels, graphics, and embroidery of any kind

Garments must have no more than 6 pockets including coin pockets.

Overalls and coveralls are prohibited.

Skirts, shorts, jumpers, dresses and skorts cannot be shorter than fingertip length above the knee.

Approved shirt or top is required as part of the school uniform when wearing a jumper.

Form fitting spandex material, nylon, denim and sweatpants are prohibited.

Oversized, undersized, and skin tight garments will not be tolerated

Belts

Students in grades 4-12 must wear a belt if the garment has belt loops.
 
Belts must be navy blue, white, or black

Students in grades PreK through 3 are not required to wear a belt.

Shoes

Some type of footwear must be worn at all times

All shoes with laces or eyelets must be properly laces and tied

No spike heels

No bedroom shoes

Shirts

Colors: Solid colors in white, navy blue, and ash/sports gray

Must be free of labels, graphics, and embroidery of any kind except the school logo or name.

Shirts may be long or short sleeve (sleeveless shirts are not permitted).

Shirts must have collars.

Shirts must be tucked in at all times.

Form fitting spandex material, nylon, and denim are prohibited.

Oversized, undersized, hoodies and skin tight garments will not be tolerated.

Other Approved Tops

Must be free of labels, graphics, and embroidery of any kind except the school logo or name

Principal approved spirit wear

School letter jackets are approved spirit wear

Oxford button down collar dress shirts in approved solid colors

Mock turtlenecks/turtlenecks in approved solid shirt colors.

Crew neck sweaters, vests, sweatshirts in approved solid shirt colors may be worn over the collared uniformed shirt. These garments do not have to be tucked in but cannot hang past the straddle of the pants.

T-shirts in approved solid shirt colors (white, navy, grey) may be worn under the collared uniform shirt. T-shirts are not allowed to be worn as the primary shirt. Writing, labels, graphics, or embroidery must not show through the top garment.


Coats

For security reasons, coats may not be worn inside the classroom during the school day.

Coats may be worn during the class change when the student is exiting the building.

Please refer to the section entitled “Other Approved Tops” for garments that may be added to the school uniform to provide additional warmth.
