My name is Brandis Howard and I will be teaching first grade this year here at Comfort Elementary School. I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education. I moved up here to North Carolina in 2005 when my husband was transferred here with the Marines. We are originally from the Daytona area of Florida. Now we live in New Bern and love the weather that North Carolina has. We have two loving sons. Tyler is four years old and full of energy and Peyton is five months old and loves to laugh. We also have two dogs named Chance and Athena. Chance was a rescue and weighs about 65 pounds while Athena is a great dane and weighs about 165 pounds! She thinks she is a lap dog. I knew I wanted to teach after I graduated high school. I wanted to do many other things but through programs in high school, I quickly realized that education was where I wanted to be. I worked for a few years as an after school counselor where I would help the children with their homework and tutor them on the skills they needed to succeed. It was then that I changed my career path and started school to become a teacher. It is the greatest feeling to help a child learn and grow! | |
